Laptop manufacturer's specifications displayed how
long battery life, although it is written may be between two and two and a half
hours, the reality is often less than it. If the battery life is less than the
laptop manufacturer's specifications, it can be caused by various factors.
Certainly, more work is done using a laptop; the more
resources will be used, as an example of multitasking will give a heavy burden
to the CPU, memory and hard drive, which eventually will consume the battery.
There are several steps that can be done to maximize the use of battery power.
-
Optimize your laptop power management features, through the Power Options
in Control Panel
-
Make sure your laptop can operated between 2.5 to 4 hours on a single battery
charge. If the battery can not provide standard operating time, then maybe need
replaced, depending on how the type and condition of the battery. If the
battery is functioning properly, you may need to buy a second battery or even
add an extended battery universal, depending on the desired operating time in a
one-time charge.
-
Batteries have limited charge cycles so use only the battery if
absolutely necessary.
-
Use the battery as low as possible before filling it again.
-
A new battery comes with conditions no filled and should be fully
charged before use. We recommend that the full and empty the contents of
the battery two to four times in order to achieve maximum capacity.
-
If settings are correct but
the laptop battery is still not able to provide sufficient amount of operating
time, there is a possibility due to the "Memory Effect" that is battery
will remember of the last capacity before it refilled, it should be when will
recharge the battery make sure the battery is empty, and make sure the battery already full before unplugging the charger. Type of
battery that has a "Memory Effect" such as, Nickel Cadmium (NiCad)
and Nickel Metal Hybrid (NiMH), both of which type of laptop battery longest in
the market, while Lithium Ion is the newest type of battery that does not have
a problem "Memory Effect".
-
Disable Auto Insert Notification on the CD / DVD.
-
Turn off the auto save feature.
-
Disable automatic formatter, spell checker, and auto recalculate.
-
Use disk caching programs such as Norton Utilities to reduce the disc
access time.
